According to UNHCR there are now more refugees than at any time in history. Numbers have grown significantly in recent years driven by conflicts in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan and many other places. The suffering is great and many people and organisations are helping. However, we should take a moment to appreciate the countries and their people that take in the refugees and provide them a secure base. Turkey stands out by far, hosting nearly 3 million refugees, the next 3 countries are also Muslim countries each hosting in excess of a million refugees each.
